Brick School Museum

Timeline for the Brick School

 1891 The Brick School House was built at a cost of $1600.00 on the site of an earlier school and became one of 13 one-room schools in the town of Georgia.
 By 1927 the Brick School had a population of 50 students.
 1930 The school was made “Standard” which meant it met certain criteria for student health.
 1936 Repairs were made to the foundation.
 1940 The Brick School was closed and pupils went to the White Meeting House until the Meeting House burned in 1952.
 The Brick School was re-opened from 1952 -1959 when the Georgia Lower School was opened and all students transferred there.
 1959 -1973 Vacant
 1973 Stanley and Lois Webster give the Brick School House to the Town of Georgia. Restored by the Ruritan Club.
 1975 (August) The Georgia Historical Society opened its doors to the public at the Brick School after much renovation.
 1999 The Brick School was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

 Collection of framed prints by Frederick Stanley (1892-1966) (Illustrator for Colliers and Saturday Evening Post)(spent summers at Breezy Point)

 Bottles from Green Mountain Renovator and Ransom Smith
 Depiction of Pickett's charge at the Battle of Gettysburg, PA during the Civil War
 Friendship Quilt found incomplete in pieces and finished for display at the museum by Rebecca Ballard
 An organ (Melodian)(100 years old)

The BRICK SCHOOL MUSEUM is CLOSED for the season and will re-open July 6, 2024 - September 28, 2024, on Saturdays from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
